Slow stays, that tell stories
Alex and Wendy Keir along with their two young daughter’s Indie and Heidi, are the owners of Keirangi - a 306 hectare coastal sheep and beef farm at Camp Bay, the wild end of Lyttelton Harbour. They bought this property in 2020 with a specific dream to create meaningful slow stays that tell stories. Alex a qualified Builder and Farmer, and Wendy a Graphic Designer, they both wanted to create a family business that curbed both their skills and passions, and build a rural lifestyle for their children. To their delight, the property already had two historic dwellings. One in which would become their first project to pour their hearts into. A little run down historic fishing hut that sits right on the water’s edge at Keirangi, in a secluded little bay. It took two years to fully restore, in between running the farm and family life.
Today, this little fishing hut named ‘The Bearded Poet’ is one of the most sort after Canopy Camping stays in New Zealand.
And so, The Wonderful’s was born.
A spectacular corner of the world that they can now share. Hike the private historic track, swim and immerse yourself in slow. The future brings more projects for the Keir’s. Another slow stay that has a story to tell is in the pipelines. This one too, will no doubt be a place you will find wonder.
